Moved to a new office.

Yep, we're like hermit crabs. We out grew our old office and we've moved into a new office. Strange thing is that the tenants of the new office are still occupuying 3/4ths of the space. Strangely, we're about 1/4  of the size of the previous studio.

Lucky thing, they're a game studio, we're a game studio. We're growing they're shrinking. It's working out. Best part, the new location. We're at the corner between China town and Little Italy. So plenty of noodle restaurants all around.

This is working out quite well.

Oh and my game demo. We got some sweet explosion particle systems working. I got a basic ai to chase you around, and the two parts connect well. They blow up good. Also lots of new weapon effects are now in and the game is starting to actually *look* like a game now.

awesome.

The Book is out!

Unreal Game Development

Okay, so I spent about 7 months working originally in a raw build of Unreal Engine 3 from Midway. This was around the time when Midway's Stranglehold. This game came out a couple of years ago. Last year I began to write the book using Unreal Tournament III. Then at the end I moved to UDKwhen it was finally released.

A lot has changed, but that's always going to be the case! This month they're adding a whole new chunk for  iOS. Heck, in the last two or three months there's been little hints with "Mobile" options showing up all over the place in the editor.

The UI is in flux as well, the Asset Manager is completely new and it's only been in there for the last few months! It's replacing the old "Generic Browser" but im sure it's going to get replaced with yet another version in a few months anyway.

So does that mean that when a book comes out its obsolete? Heck no, the Unreal Game Development book has tons of tutorials that talk about things that are not going to change any time soon. It's teaching a lot of the basic principals that are the fundamental building blocks of how unreal works, stuff that won't change. At least not any time soon.

There are some tutorials for 3D Studio Max, and Gimp in there as well, so go get my book!
